Saving The World

2020, online conference series

Summer 2020, together with Helena Nikonole, we organized and curated a global online conference Saving The World, inviting leading experts from creative industries, arts and science to talks about their ongoing practice, share how the broad range of challenges, raised by global pandemics crisis, affected us as cultural workers and discuss possible ways to respond to it. We designed a hybrid format with scheduled 20 minutes presentations, 20 minutes open discussions in between and an open online chat. This gave our invited speakers flexibility to join for their talk only or stay anytime longer to hear others, reply to audience and participate roundtable discussions. We were thrilled with the caliber of people that accepted our invitation for this experimental artist-run format, that emerged without any support and didn't have any funding or media coverage.

It was a time of early Zoom adoption, before any tools to enhance the experience of an online conference became available. We have developed our own livestream setup in TouchDesigner, which would grab video streams and sound from a zoom call to integrate them with another content in a whole new 3D environment, featuring simultaneous interpretation and streaming to 3 platforms.
